KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lee Flames forward Quay Kennedy has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-South Region First Team the organization announced on Monday.
Kennedy averaged 17 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game as he led the Flames to a 15-6 mark and the program's first NCAA Tournament victory with 72-69 win over Georgia Southwestern. The junior from Columbia, Tenn. was named the Gulf South Conference East Player of the Year and landed a spot on the NCAA South Region All-Tournament Team.
"It's great to have our own Quay Kennedy represented on the NABC All-South Regions Team. Coaches in the NABC and the South Region have recognized Quay as one of the top players in the South Region," said Lee men's basketball coach Bubba Smith. "The players on that list are great company to be mentioned in. I know Quay will be motivated in the off-season to make another jump as a player. It's what he's done each year he's been here. We are excited about him returning as well as the core of our team that took Lee University Men's Basketball to new heights this season."
