The Lee University softball team claimed a doubleheader sweep over Mississippi College on Friday evening on senior night from Butler Field.

The Lady Flames took game one, 8-3, before completing a run-rule, 11-3, victory in game two.

After game two Lee honored the eight seniors that are set to graduate this year.

Kayla Louie led the way going 7-for-6 with a double, walk, and five runs to go with four stolen bases. Taylor De Adder had a 4-for-8 day with five RBIs and Annalyn Ormsby and Lily Hatcher both went 3-for-6. Ormsby added five RBIs while Hatcher added a pair of stolen bases to help lead the Lee offense.

Lee is now 16-18 overall and 13-13 in Gulf South Conference action. Mississippi College falls to 16-18 and 12-3 in GSC play.

GAME ONE: Lee 8, Mississippi College 3
After a scoreless first two innings, the Lady Flames scored the first run of the contest in their half of the third.

Kylie Bohl reached on a leadoff single through the right side and Madison Besaw reached on a throwing error trying to complete the sacrifice bunt. The Choctaws recorded an out to save a run as Hatcher reached on a fielder's choice to second but De Adder hit a two-RBI single up the middle to plate the game's first runs.

Laney Harris then singled on a ground ball to third to load the bases that allowed Abby McKinney to walk in a run to extend the lead to three.

Annalyn Ormsby tacked on two more in the next at-bat with another two-RBI single before the Choctaws were finally able to get out of the inning.

Mississippi College quickly answered as McCall Lee pounced on the first pitch of the fourth inning with a solo shot to left. Just three batters later Morgan Bradford put one over the right-center wall to plate two and quickly trim the lead back down to two.

Lee responded with two more runs in the fifth as Ormsby came away with another RBI single and Shelby Cole hit a sacrifice fly to left to score McKinney and make the lead, 7-3.

Just an inning later Hatcher singled in Louie after she hit her first extra-base hit of the season to push the lead to five and Madison Barnett struck out the side in the top of the seventh to come away with the game one victory.

Barnett (6-5) went the complete game, scattering six hits, and three earned runs while striking out eight and not walking a single batter to pick up the win.

Louie had a 2-for-3 contest with a pair of runs and De Adder went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Ormsby paced the Lee offense going 2-for-3 with a trio of RBIs.

Jordan LaFosse was the only Choctaw with multiple hits going 2-for-3 while Bradford had a pair of RBIs to lead the guest offense.

Avery Sanders (9-12) got the start in the circle and was credited with the loss going four innings allowing seven hits, six earned runs while walking four and striking out for. Shelby Carlson went the final two innings allowing three hits and one earned run.

GAME TWO: Lee 11, Mississippi College 3 (5 innings)
In-game number two the Lady Flames claimed a run-rule victory, 11-3, with a Harris game-ending sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth.

The Choctaws got on the board first in the opening frame as Brooke Fagan found a gap up the middle to single in Rayne Minor.

The Lady Flames took the lead in the third as De Adder delivered again hitting an RBI single to bring home Louie and Hatcher came around to score as the centerfielder bobbled the ball in the third.

Cole extended the Lee lead to two with a solo shot to left-center and the Choctaws responded with two runs of their own in the top of the fifth.

The Lady Flame offense then exploded for five runs in the bottom half of the frame to take an, 8-3 lead. Harris singled through the right side to plate Hatcher and Louie then Ormsby singled but a costly error by the left fielder allowed three runs to score on the same play for the runs in the inning.

Then in the sixth, Besaw reached first after getting hit by a pitch and Louie singled on a pop-up just over the shortstops head. Hatcher walked to load the bases and De Adder once again came through with a two-RBI single to score pinch-runner Kayla Gooch and Louie to take a seven-run lead. After a pitching change, Harris took the first pitch she saw and sent it to deep right to plate Hatcher and end the contest with the run-rule in the sixth.

De Adder and Harris had three RBIs each while Louie had a 4-for-4 game with three runs scored. Hatcher went 2-for-3 as well, as De Adder was 2-for-4.

De Adder got the start in the circle and went 4.1 innings giving up five hits, three earned runs, and five walks to go with three strikeouts. Gracie Leslie (4-5) came in the final 1.2 innings to pick up the win while only walking one and not giving up a hit.

Minor paced the Choctaw offense going 2-for-3 with an RBI and Fagan went 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs.

Avery Barnett (7-5) was tagged with the loss after going 4.1 innings giving up seven hits, five runs, four earned, and struck out three batters. Sanders came in relief lasting an inning while giving up four hits, six runs, four earned, two walks, and struck out one.

Head Coach Emily Russell summed it up the following way, "I'm really proud of our girls. I think they did a phenomenal job. Our pitching did a great job to keep us in a tight game especially in the second game when we were losing for three innings. We didn't give up massive amounts of runs. Our hitting across the board, everybody really jumped in there and I think that's why we were successful today."

The Lady Flames wrap up the series with Mississippi College tomorrow beginning at 12 p.m.
