ATLANTA, Georgia – The Lee volleyball team fell in four sets (3-1) to Division III and seventh-ranked Emory University on Tuesday evening inside the Wood PEC Center. The Eagles improved to 12-2 while the Lady Flames dropped to 4-6. The Lady Flames will return to GSC action on Friday, traveling to Rome, Georgia and facing Shorter University.
After dropping the first set 25-12, the Lady Flames came battling back and defeated the Eagles 21-25 in set two before losing a hard-fought 25-19 set three and then fighting all the way to the end before losing 26-24 in the final set.
Allie Whittinghill was consistent all evening and had 16 kills and an attack percentage of .205 to pace the Lady Flames. Emma Flowers came on strong in the final set with four straight kills and finished with nine slams for the match. Lissi Snouffer added eight kills and Calina Croy pushed six kills across the net. All totaled, Lee had an attack percentage of .206.
Croy dished off 33 assists and also had eight digs. Hannah Longley went to the deck for 15 digs and Kamryn Halpin finished with 11.
The flying Eagles got 11 kills from Lily Martin, 10 slams from Abby Heimlicher, nine from Jessica Majka, eight from Madison Cail and Alana Dawson. Cassie Srb and Chloe Dorsey were the assist leaders with 24 and 20. Deborah Hong had 16 digs and Carly Wallace 12. Heimlicher (5) and Dawson (3) came up big in blocks for the winners.
