RESULTS
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Celine Ritter and Toni Moore combined to meet three NCAA Division II Qualifying Standards at the UAB Vulcan Invite Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Ritter and Moore were the top two finishers in the mile run. Ritter crossed the finish line at 4:51.70 and Moore was right behind at 4:56.40. The standard to meet is 4:58.15. Ritter and Moore currently hold the fourth and fifth, respectively, times in the event in DII this season.
Ritter added another first-place performance and qualifying mark in the 800-meter run. She completed the race at 2:13.65 to meet the qualifying time of 2:14.51. Lily Hare was third in the 800 with a time of 2:17.38.
Hare and Danielle Horter were also in the mile event. Hare finished fourth with a time of 5:05.74, while Horter was seventh at 5:11.73.
Kristen Blevins (7.74) placed ninth and Baylie Murphy (7.76) was 11
th in the 60-meter dash. Kyleeyah Whitehead placed 21
st (7.93), while Jaila Whitaker was Lee's final sprinter at 35
th (8.20).
Blevins finished 11
th with a 200-meter time of 25.42 seconds. Hannah Wright was just behind in 12
th (25.64). Murphy was 20
th (26.43), Janay Ryan was 21
st (26.44) and Mikayla Beeler finished 23
rd (26.69). Carissa Hall stopped the clock at 27.15 (28
th) and Whitaker was 29
th with a time of 27.22.
Beeler and Ryan were joined by Liezl Theron in the 400-meter dash. Beeler was Lee's top finisher with a seventh-place time of 59.21. Ryan was 15
th (1:01.16) and Theron finished 18
th (1:01.79).
Wright finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.75 seconds. Brooke Long was 17
th (9.22) with Theron (9.60) in 27
th and Sydney White (10.58) finishing 30
th.
Aria Hawkins and Phoebe Moran were second and third in the 3000-meter run. Hawkins completed the race in 10:43.96 with Moran right behind at 10:46.54. Elizabeth Beckham ran the 5000-meter event in 18:48.58 to place third.
The Lady Flames entered two teams into the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Blevins, Theron, Hall and Beeler amassed a time of 4:03.22 to finish ninth. Long, Murphy, Whitaker and White combined for a 13
th-place time of 4:16.00.
Theron added a fourth-place tie in the high jump with a successful clearance at 1.53 meters. White cleared 1.43 meters to tie for 10
th.
Hall and Long also battled in the long jump. Hall placed seventh with a jump of 5.28 meters and Long's mark of 5.26 meters was good for ninth. Hall added a ninth-place finish with a triple jump of 10.89 meters.
Deborah Rubin took to the cage and reported a 15
th-place finish with a measurement of 11.36 meters in the shot put. She added a second-place performance in the weight throw where she recorded a mark of 16.83 meters.
The Lady Flames are scheduled to return to action this coming weekend with the majority of athletes returning to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the Samford University meet and the rest heading to Boston, Massachusetts for the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
