Lady Flames Falter Against Eckerd; Return Home Next Friday

HOOVER, Ala. – The Lee University volleyball team fell to Eckerd College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon from the Finley Center in their final game of the Gulf South Conference/Sunshine State Conference crossover tournament.

Lee (6-19) struggled to get anything going offensively registering just 21 kills on the day and was even hitting, recording 21 errors on 100 attacks.

Eckerd (16-4) led from start to finish claiming the first six out of seven points in the opening set. Lee trimmed to five with a, 6-1, run. The Tritons then claimed the final two points to claim the first set, 25-18.

The two teams traded points to start the second frame before the Florida school stretched the lead out to six before claiming it, 25-17.

Eckerd then raced out to an, 11-1, lead in the third, and the Lady Flames could not get anything going as they raced out to win set three, 25-5.

Stella Antypa paced the Tritons offense recording nine kills and Krysten Garrison had 20 assists. Ashley Eck had 17 digs and Joelle Coulter dug 10 attacks.

Hannah Upton paced Lee with nine digs and Carissa Soza dished out 10 assists. Abby Stroh led the Lady Flames attack with six kills.

Lee will jump back into GSC play on Friday, October 21 as they take on Mississippi College at Walker Arena beginning at 7 p.m.
