Hot-Shooting Lady Flames Burn Maryville, 112-32

CLEVELAND, Tenn.-In two exhibition games the Lee women's basketball team scored a total of 197 points, dished off 60 assists and pulled down 75 rebounds in victories over Covenant and Maryville colleges. The Lady Flames also shot 51% from the field in the win over Covenant and 64% in the 112-32 romp over Maryville on Monday evening.

"We played hard and this is a very unselfish team right now," said Coach Marty Rowe after Monday night's contest. "It could very well be the fastest team I've ever coached and we have a lot of depth. Right now we were able to go 12-13 deep in the exhibition games. I can't tell you that's going to happen when we begin the regular season on Friday and Saturday. The girls are having a lot of fun and enjoy playing together."

All-American Haley Schubert got off to a fast start in Monday's win and made 10-of-14 shots from the field in recording 22 points. She was one of five players that scored in double figures. Transfer Mia Hurst tallied 16 points and added four assists to go along with four rebounds.

Transfer Mallory Hampton was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and totaled 11 points, added six assists and three steals. Macy Woodworth came off the bench to tally 11 markers and led the team with nine rebounds. Ally Welfel chipped in with 10 points and shared three assists. Hannah Garrett and Anna Muhonen scored nine points apiece.

The Lady Flames only had six turnovers in the contest and forced the visiting Scots into 33. They also out-rebounded the visitors 34-29. Lee shot 57% from beyond the arc. Maryville was led in scoring by Ella Haney who finished with 10 points. Courtney Farr and Courtney Carruthers added six points apiece. Farr was also her team's leading rebounder with six.

The Lady Flames will travel to St. Leo on Friday and Saturday and face Florida Southern on Friday at 4 p.m. and St. Leo on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
