HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Lee men's basketball team renewed its rivalry with Alabama Huntsville on Friday night and the Chargers used a big second half to knock off the Flames, 74-62 in Gulf South Conference action.
The Flames led 42-37 at the break but the Chargers used an 18-4 over the first nine minutes of the second half to pull away.Â
Jayce Willingham led the way for Lee with 18 points and four rebounds. Makhi McGuire drilled four triples and scored 17 points while eight points and nine rebounds.
CJ Williamson paced the Chargers with 20 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the field. Max Shulman hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points and Luke Burnett joined in double-figures with 16 points. Chaney Johnson chipped in six points and 12 rebounds.Â
Lee shot 40 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc. The Chargers outscored Lee 34-18 in the paint and connected on 48 percent from the field.
The Flames fall to an even 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in the GSC while Alabama Huntsville improves to 7-2 and 3-1 in league play.Â
Lee will look to get back into the win column on Sunday as they travel to West Alabama to take on the Tigers at 5 p.m. West Alabama improved to 6-1 on the season with a win over Shorter on Friday night.
