The Lee softball stumbled to a 1-3 finish with two losses on day two of the Lee Invitational Tournament. The Lady Flames lost to Ohio Dominican, 12-8 and Emmanuel College, 6-0 on Saturday afternoon at Butler Field.
Lee falls to 4-5 on the season and will open up Gulf South Conference play next weekend with a three-game series at Union. Ohio Dominican finished the weekend 3-1 while Emmanuel went 2-2.
GAME 1 – LEE 8 ODU 12
The Lady Flames jumped out to a six-run lead but saw that quickly evaporate as the Panthers scored all 12 runs over the final three innings, including a seven-run sixth frame.
Braxton Downs led the Ohio club with a double, two singles and four RBI. Leadoff hitter Madison Shemwell had three hits, scored twice and drove in three.
Bre Patton paced the Lady Flames offense with a double, a single and three runs scored. Annie Ormsby singled home a pair of runs in the Lady Flames five-run fourth inning.
Addison Smodilla (1-0) earned the win for the Panthers in the circle as she worked 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Sydney Long tossed the final two frames, giving up a pair of unearned runs, to register her first save of the season.
Nyah Vogel (2-2) suffered the loss for Lee. She worked five-plus innings and allowed five runs on seven hits.
GAME 2 – LEE 0 EC 6
For the second straight day the Lady Flames failed to score against the Emmanuel Lions as Maddie Edwards (2-2) tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout to earn the win for the Lions, 6-2. She struck out five and walked four.
Madison Barnett (2-2) battled for six innings but gave up 11 hits and six runs. She struck out three and walked a pair. Alaina Watson worked the final frame and did not give up a run.
Lexi Jordan paced the Lions offense with a pair of hits and three RBI while Chloe Nadler doubled and singled twice.
