PREVIEW - Lady Flames Host Choctaws in GSC Tourney Opener

Julia Duncan and the Lady Flames will open up postseason play at home at 6 p.m. against Mississippi College.
The Gulf South Conference has released the full bracket for the 2022 GSC Basketball Championships and the third-seeded Lee women (22-6, 15-5) will begin tourney play by hosting sixth-seeded Mississippi College on Tuesday at 6 p.m. A victory would advance the Lady Flames to the semifinal round Saturday at the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama against the winner of second-seeded Valdosta State and seventh-seeded West Alabama.

Union University is the tournament's top-seed and faces eighth-seeded Montevallo University. Fourth-seeded West Florida and (fifth-seeded) Delta State will be battling for the right to challenge the winner of Union and Montevallo. The championship game is slated for Sunday.

"We are excited to host another quarterfinal game, but we also know every team is capable of winning this time of the year. Only good teams are left, and we will need to be at our best if we expect to move on," said Lee coach Marty Rowe as he looked over the bracket. "Mississippi College is playing well right now and will pose a great challenge for our team. They are talented, deep and play extremely hard. Coach (Greg) Long is doing a great job of building his program and this is one of the teams we expect to continue to grow in our league."
