17th-Ranked Flames Edge Mississippi College 4-3

The Lee University men's tennis team edged Mississippi College 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center. With the win the No. 17 Flames improved to 9-4 overall and 3-3 in Gulf South Conference action. Mississippi College fell to 3-7 (2-2 GSC).

"There's no easy matches in the GSC," admitted Lee head coach Patric Hynes. "Mississippi College were a tough opponent today. We'll get some rest and start to prepare for another big weekend."

The No. 32 doubles team of Nico Ramirez and Bruno Medeiros opened the doubles scoring with a 6-4 win over Matias Ballatore and Carlos Trujillo. Drew Johnston and Wihan Van Der Merwe secured the team point with a 7-6 (7-4) defeat of Joe Jarvis and Walker Ellis at No. 3 doubles. Diego Garcia and Jordi Dasi completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 score over Brady McDaniel and Hsiang Wang.

Ramirez, ranked No. 21, posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over McDaniel to begin singles competition. Jarvis cut the Lee advantage in half with a win at No. 2 singles.
