The Lee University baseball team ended a four-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep of Auburn University at Montgomery Saturday afternoon at Larry Carpenter Stadium. The Flames came from behind to claim a walk-off 5-4 win in the opener and led from start to finish to win the second game 4-1.
With the two wins on Saturday, the Flames claimed its second Gulf South Conference series of the season and improved to 10-8 overall and 4-4 in GSC action. The Flames were edged 4-2 in Friday night's game by the Warhawks (12-9, 2-4 GSC).
"I was really proud of our response today after losing a tough game Friday night." Said Lee head coach Mark Brew. "We got quality pitching all day and got some clutch hits when we had to have them. Hopefully, we can use this momentum moving forward into the week with a mid-week game at Lincoln Memorial and a big road series at Delta state on the weekend.
The Flames are scheduled to travel to Harrogate, Tennessee on Tuesday to battle Lincoln Memorial University. The non-conference meeting is set for 3 p.m. EST.
