It is on to the NCAA D2 National Tournament for the 24-7 Lee University women's basketball team. After placing second in the Gulf South Conference Tournament this past weekend the Lady Flames received an at-large bid and will face Benedict College (23-7) out of Columbia, South Carolina. The Lady Tigers came from behind to defeat Savannah State (71-69) and claim the SIAC Championship on Saturday evening. Kenondra Archie was named the tourney MVP. Lee and Benedict will play in the South Regionals' first game on Friday at 1 p.m. (Eastern). 

Union University (26-2) is the top seed and will host the South Region in Jackson, Tennessee on March 11-14. Tampa University is the second seed followed by the Lady Flames. Florida Southern is fourth seeded, Eckerd College fifth, Benedict sixth, Valdosta State seventh and Savannah State rounds out the eight-tournament field. 

"It is a real deep regional, and we will have our hands full with Benedict, but we will get to work over the next few days and get prepared," said Lee Coach Marty Rowe when he officially learned about the at-large bid on Sunday night. "We are excited about getting back into the NCAA tournament," Rowe added. "It is a great accomplishment for our team, and they deserve the opportunity to keep their season going. Jackson is a very familiar place for our program and playing in national tournaments, so it is great to be heading that way this weekend."

Tickets are available online at www.uuathletics.com/tickets. Fans can also purchase tickets at the Fred DeLay Gymnasium ticket office at the front (south) entrance one hour prior to the first game of each day. The prices for tickets are $10 for reserve (chair back), $7 for general admission (bleacher), $5 for students (college or younger). Once tickets are purchased by the fans, Non-Union teams will be provided cards to pass out to up to 100 fans to be able to sit behind their team's bench for that game only. Once your game is completed, should you choose to stay for other games, fans will need to move to the location of their purchased ticket to make room for other fan bases to sit behind the bench. 

Fred DeLay Gymnasium is located in the center of campus facing south. It is directly off the south entrance facing the soccer and baseball fields. Parking is available to the right and left of the main entrance to the gymnasium. The address to the campus is 1050 Union University Drive; Jackson, TN 38305. There are entrances to the campus from Country Club Lane (south), Union University Drive (north) and Pleasant Plains Extended (west).
