The Lee University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Philip Tang as the new Coordinator of Athletic Communications.
Tang arrives in Cleveland after spending nine years as an assistant in the Office of Athletic Communications at Delta State. He also spent time as the Director of Media Services for First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Miss., Tang will help oversee all digital content for the Flames and will assist with the coordination of broadcasts and video streaming, while lending his voice to the Lee Flames Sports Network.
"Philip Tang brings a vast wealth of experience, versatility, and energy to our Athletic Communications Department," said Lee Assistant Athletic Director, Carman Lastoria. "He has worked with respected GSC institutions over his young career and I'm excited to welcome him to our team. Philip will continue to help us tell the story of Lee Athletics with clarity and excellence as he leads our digital content team while also assisting with video streaming production, broadcasting, and media relations. Philip is a true communications professional and I'm thrilled to welcome him to Lee."
Tang joined Delta State from Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He graduated from Delta State with a master's degree in sports administration in 2015 after serving the past two years as the coordinator of broadcasting and video streaming.
Tang worked with men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, softball, cheerleading and golf at DSU. He we also behind the mic for more than 700 sporting events for the Statesmen.

"I want to thank President Walker, Athletic Director Carpenter, and Assistant AD Carman Lastoria for allowing me to work with one of the top athletic departments in all of division two. I have admired the department from a distance in the past and am now excited to be a part of it. I look forward to using my skills to help Lee go to the next level in all form of communications."
Tang spent four years working in Union University's Sports Information Department primarily as a radio broadcaster and statistician. He also was a lead color commentator for Union's TV basketball broadcast for three years. He was behind the microphone for three NAIA women's national basketball championships.
Previously, he had worked as a video technician for EPLUS TV-6 in Jackson, Tenn. He also has been behind the microphone for over 600 high school and college sporting events in West Tennessee.
Tang graduated from Union University in May 2012 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
