HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee University women's basketball team fell to 0-2 to begin the season with a 76-64 loss to Florida Southern College Saturday afternoon. The game was part of the GSC/SSC Crossover held at Alabama Huntsville's Spragins Hall.
Mallory Hampton led the Lady Flames with 17 points and eight rebounds. Mia Alexander was the only other Lee player in double digits with 10. Alexander also recorded a team-high three steals.
Florida Southern had four players score 10 or more points. Sarah Lange posted 17 points to go with seven rebounds. Marissa Jenike added 13, Anna Denes had 11 and Amari Jackson supplied 10.
The Lady Flames trailed 18-11 following the opening 10 minutes and 42-25 at the half. FSC outrebounded Lee 46-27 and pulled down 17 offensive boards to Lee's six. The Mocs outscored Lee 40-24 in the paint and 18-7 in second-chance points.
Lee is scheduled to be in action again next Saturday against Trevecca Nazarene University. The non-conference contest is set for a 2 p.m. tip.
