Flames Hit the Century Mark in Win Over Carolina Christian

CLEVELAND, Tenn. –The Lee University Flames rattled off seven points in the first 75 seconds of the contest and never looked back as they rolled to a 100-54 win over Carolina Christian College on Saturday afternoon at Walker Arena
 
For the second straight week, six different Flames scored in double figures as four different players scored their career high. Freshman Jamarcus Wilkins led the with a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Another freshman Zach Gray had a career high 15 points, while Willie Walton and Hayden Moseley, both red shirt freshman, had 13 points and eight points respectively to set career marks.
 
Lee shot 46% from the field in the win going 39-for-85. They also made 15 three point shot while holding Carolina Christian to just four. The Flames shared the ball very well accumulating 28 assist. Alex Kelehear led the way with six. Lee also only committed turnovers while forcing 21 from the Centurions. The Flames scored 33 points off the turnovers from Carolina Christian in the win.
 
The only category that Carolina Christian led in the game was at the charity stripe as they were 12-for-16 fron the free throw line while Lee was 7-for-13. The Flames outrebounded the Centurions 51-38 in the win and stole the ball 16 times.
 
The Flames will open up Gulf South Conference play next week as they will host Valdosta State University. Lee will battle the Blazers at 4 PM on Saturday, November 25 at Walker Arena.
 
Coach Bubba Smith's Thoughts:
 
"In the non-conference games you want to get comradery, connection, and chemistry with your team. Especially this year as we have guys playing new roles and freshman playing big roles as well. Today we kept it clean and were willing to share the ball today."
 
"We have will have to continue to grow as playing defense as a team and not just one-on-one especially in the GSC. We want to defend as a group and play unselfish basketball on the offensive end."
