Lady Flames Seniors Standout in Win Over Bucs

CLEVELAND, Tenn.-It was Senior Day on Saturday afternoon inside Walker Arena and the Lee University women celebrated with a commanding 95-71 victory over Christian Brothers University. The victory completed the regular season for the Lady Flames who posted a 23-5 overall mark and earned the top seed in the upcoming GSC playoffs with a 21-3 record. Lee will host West Alabama in the opening round of the playoffs on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. 

Morgan Carbaugh, Hannah Garrett, Haley Schubert and Macy Woodworth played their last regular season game as members of the Lady Flames and were honored after the win over Christian Brothers. Graduate assistant coach NaKeia Burks was also recognized. 

Schubert turned in an outstanding performance with 24 points and eight assists. She made 11-of-14 shots from the field. Garrett hit two triples, two free throws, grabbed four rebounds and finished with 12 points. Woodworth had 11 points and six rebounds while Carbaugh made 4-of-6 shots overall, tallied 10 points and pulled down four rebounds to give all four players who were honored double-figure scoring. 

Addison Smith chipped in with 13 points and Mia Hurst added 11 points, while Mallory Hampton totaled nine points and five assists. All totaled Lee shot 56% from the field (36-of-64) and 40% from beyond the arc (10-of-25). The Lady Flames converted 13-of-16 free throws and had 21 assists to just eight turnovers. 

The Lady Flames scored 28 points in the first quarter and led 46-31 at halftime. They put 28 more points on the board in the final period to help produce their biggest scoring output of the year.  

The visiting Lady Bucs shot 46% overall (25-of-54) but made just 2-of-17 triples. They marched to the charity stripe 22 times and nailed 19. Kallie Searcy turned in a sparkling performance for the losers. She made 10 of her 12 field goal attempts to finish with 25 points. Yaya Coleman added 13 and Emily Jones came off the bench to tally 11. The Lady Bucs outrebounded the Lady Flames 30-28 with Jeremia Montgomery claiming nine boards.
