Flames Collect Five Top Ten Finishes At Camel City Invitational

Justin Steele finished first in the 200, ninth in the 60 and was part of the second-place DMR team at the Camel City Invitational
RESULTS

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Lee University men's track & field team collected five top 10 finishes at the Camel City Invitational. The meet was held on Friday and Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.

The distance medley relay team of Roberto Fajardo, Justin Steele, Titus Lagat and Will Stone placed second with a combined time of 10:09.67. Due to track size, the time converts to 10:01.45 and settles into 13th, four spots below Lee's best qualifying mark of the season (9:56.81) from the Vanderbilt Invitational.

Steele collected a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash. He stopped the clock at 22.07 seconds. He edged Catawba's Barja Walter by 0.02 seconds for the win. He added a ninth-place finish in the 60 with a time of 7.02 seconds.

Fajardo and Lagat were joined by Evan Moore in the 800-meter run. Fajardo was second with a time of 1:55.41 with Lagat right behind him in third (1:55.88). Moore finished the circuit in 1:56.22 to claim fifth place.

Matthew Fowler and Aaron Himes met the provisional time in the 3000. Fowler finished 18th (8:21.85) and Himes (8:22.19) was 19th. Fowler's time converts to 8:16.08 (31st), while Himes converted time is 8:16.42 (33rd). Ezekiel Harless finished 24th (8:27.17), Adan Rodriguez was 26th (8:22.90) and Silas Eckenroad placed 29th (8:30.51).

Jacob Hatcher and Ryan Lovelace were Lee's representatives in the mile. Hatcher stopped the clock at 4:18.39 for 19th. Lovelace was 39th with a time of 4:26.10.

The Flames travel to the Birmingham CrossPlex on Sunday to participate in the University of South Alabama Jaguar Invitational.
