Brooks Sets Lee Record, Meets Provisional At Jaguar Invitational

4x400 Relay Team Meets Provisional Mark

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lee University men's track & field team recorded one Lee record and met two NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on Sunday. The event was held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The Flames will return to the CrossPlex February 14-15 for the Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Eli Brooks cleared 4.77 meters to finish seventh in the pole vault. The performance was 0.02 meters higher than the provisional standard and previous Lee record of 4.75 meters.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Nokia Masengu, Stacen Cunningham, Niquaine Henry and Justin Steele combined for a second-place time of 3:17.05 to finish under the provisional time of 3:17.34.

Cale Kassen won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.88 seconds. Cunningham was 25th at 8.74. Kassen added two fifth place finishes in the high jump and long jump. He cleared 1.96 meters in the high jump and posted a long jump of 6.99 meters. He also placed 21st (7.02) in the 60-meter dash, while Doniven Jackson was 12th (6.92).

Jackson joined Henry and Masengu in the 200. Jackson (22.10) was 15th, Henry placed 23rd (22.31) and Masengu (22.62) finished 31st. Henry (49.97) added an 11th-place finish in the 400, while Masengu (50.18) was 17th and Cunningham (51.48) 34th.

Stephen Clark completed the 800-meter run in 1:57.64 to finish 12th. Caleb Guthery was 12th (4:16.14) in the mile and Jon Fielding Stogner finished 19th (4:20.09).
