DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -The Lee University women's lacrosse team fell to Embry Riddle University 13-10 on Friday evening. It was the fourth straight loss for the Lady Flames to teams ranked in the top #18 in the country. The Lady Flames did not score in the first and could not catch up the rest of the game.
Neither team was able to get attacking going early. Embry-Riddle did not score a goal until five minutes had elapsed in the first quarter. They added three more goals in the first quarter with Samantha Reich scoring one with 12 seconds left in the period. Lee had only two shots in the first 15 minutes.
Brittney White scored two goals very quickly in the second quarter to cut the lead down for Lee. However, the Eagles added two more and led 6-2 at the halftime break. Lee out shot ERAU 6-5 in the second period of action.
Embry-Riddle scored two more to start the third quarter to push the lead out to 8-2. White scored her third unassisted goal to make it 8-3. ERAU added two more to make it 10-3. The Lady Flames then rattled off three quick goals to climb back into the game at 10-6. Caleigh Kenna scored twice, and Katelyn Sweeney added one as well. White had the first assist of the game in Kenna's second goal.
Callie Curtis scored just under two minutes into the fourth quarter to make it 10-7. But the Lee could not get any closer as the two teams traded goals the last 12 minutes. Kenna scored her third, Maggie Luzier added one, and White scored her fourth goal of the game to end it 13-10.
Lee was out shot in the game 27-20 and had 22 turnovers to ERAU's 14.
Lee will return home and will host Missouri Western State on Friday, March 17 at the Ray Conn Sports Complex.
