Lady Flames Place 6th in Rollins Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lee women's golf team placed sixth (624) in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, hosted by Rollins College on Monday and Tuesday at the Orange Tree Golf Club. Five Florida schools set the pace with Lynn leading the way (601), followed by Barry (606), Nova Southeastern (616), Rollins (620) and Eckerd (621).

"I felt like we had a good start as a team. With a bunch of lightning delays and bad weather, we were still in a good spot (2nd place) for most of the first round," said Coach Geandra Almeida. "Unfortunately, we did not keep that up for the remainder of the round, as we ended up falling a few spots back. Due to the bad weather, the tournament was shortened to 36 holes, which made it difficult to make up ground. In round one, we saw good scores from Yui Srichantamit , Emily Ritchie, and Hannah Nall, but we struggled to have a solid fourth score."
The coach added, "We were in fifth-place going into round two with a goal of having a better finish than day one. For most of the day we were hanging around third and fourth place, but unfortunately some big numbers on some key holes pushed us back a spot on the leaderboard.

"Yui once again had a great week with a top six finish, shooting 75-75 - 150. Our freshman Hannah Nall had a very good tournament at a really tough course and a strong field. She finished 14th with rounds of 77-77 – 154," noted the coach.

Emily Ritchie (76-86) and Lily Bloodworth (82-80) each tallied a 162 while Emily Felix posted a 83-82 - 165

"Going forward, we have a few weeks to prepare for our next event. Our main goal as a team is to start counting a fourth strong score, which is what we have been missing so far this season," said Coach Almeida in closing.
