Lady Flames Comeback Falls Short In 3-2 Loss At AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lee University softball team's comeback attempt fell short in a 3-2 loss to Auburn Montgomery Sunday afternoon at the AUM Softball Complex. The Lady Flames fell to 6-14 overall and 3-6 in the Gulf South Conference (GSC).

AUM (13-9, 6-3 GSC) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run single by Molly Cobb. The Warhawks added another run in the second off a leadoff home run by Lexi Love.

Alesandra Razo ended the shutout with a RBI single in the fifth inning. Sidney Lee led off the seventh with a solo home run to pull the Lady Flames within one run, but AUM's Morgan Ferguson retired the next three batters to end the game.

Javaria Smith, Kylie Bohl and Annalyn Ormsby each singled to run Lee's hit total to five. The Warhawks amassed nine hits. Love and Allie Miller accounted for six of the team's hits. Love finished a triple shy of the cycle, while Miller recorded three singles.

Natalie Pruitt was charged with the loss after allowing three runs and nine hits, while striking out one and walking one in six innings. Sydni Free was credited with the win. She gave up four hits, one run and walked four in 4.2 innings pitched.

The Lady Flames will travel to Florida March 11-12 for a non-conference three-game series with Saint Leo University. The Lions are currently ranked No. 23 in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
