NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Long-time rival Trevecca Nazarene put 14 runs on the scoreboard in the second and third innings and posted a stunning 17-4 run-rule loss on the visiting Flames Tuesday afternoon under near-perfect playing conditions. The loss dropped the Flames to 23-19 overall while the streaking Trojans improved to 22-15.
"We did not put forth a lot of fight and certainly Trevecca played way better and more competitively than we did," commented Coach Mark Brew after the loss to the team that he once played with and coached.
"It is not the type of momentum we wanted to create going to Christian Brothers, but we will have to respond with some great practice days as we head to a tough place to play on their senior weekend." The Flames will travel to Memphis and continue rugged GSC play on Friday and Saturday with a three-game series against the Bucs.
