Bohl's Grand Slam Leads Lady Flames to Win Over CBU

MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Kylie Bohl drove in six runs to lead the Lee University Lady Flames softball team to a run-rule 9-1 win over Christian Brothers University on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Flames took the series two games to one. Lee has now won back-to-back Gulf South Conference series over Union and CBU and has improved their record to 14-32 overall and 9-18 in GSC play.
 
Lee got on the scoreboard in the second inning. After Javaria Smith and Laney Harris reached safely with singles, Rylie Goodridge got on base via an error by CBU. Bohl brought in Smith and Harris for her first two runs batted in of the day. Annalyn Ormsby brought in Goodridge to make it 3-0.
 
The Lady Flames broke the game wide open in the top of the fourth inning. Bohl was hit by a pitch and then made it to third base after Ana Macha reached on another error from CBU. The very next batter, Ormsby, drove in Bohl to give Lee a 4-0 lead. The final run of the inning was scored by Macha on a hit from Alexa Scalzo.
 
The last four runs came on a grand slam from Bohl.in the fifth inning. A Smith single and a Goodridge and Hayden Gardner walk loaded the bases for Bohl who blasted a shot over the centerfield fence. CBU hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth but Natalie Pruitt got two strikeouts to end the game.
 
Bohl was 2-for-2 at the plate with six RBI and two runs scored. Ormsby added two RBI as well. Natalie Pruitt earned her second win of the weekend as she threw all five innings giving up one run on just four hits and striking out eight batter.
 
The Lady Flames will return home for the final series of the season as they will host Shorter University. Lee will celebrate senior day at 6 PM on Friday, April 28 at Butler Field.
