"Overall, we had a solid first round after a very slow start as a team" explained Lee women's coach Geandra Almeida. "We certainly didn't play our best, but I liked the way the girls stayed committed until the very last hole. I really thought the conditions were tougher than what we expected and that's why you can see higher scores across the board.
"Today, I felt like we had a much better start, and we had good momentum on the front nine," she added. "Unfortunately, we were not able to keep that momentum for most of the back nine and struggled a bit in the middle of the round. We had our ups and downs throughout the day, but I am proud of the girls for finishing with some birdies on the last few holes to keep us in a good spot heading into tomorrow," the coach concluded.
