Newcomers Pace Volleyball 3-0 Victory

CLEVELAND, Tenn.-With three newcomers leading the way, the Lee volleyball team handed visiting Tuskegee University (Ala.) a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-12) defeat on Wednesday evening inside Walker Arena. The victory improved the Lady Flames record to 3-1 on the year.

They will be back on the road again this weekend, traveling to Franklin Springs (Ga.) and facing four teams in the Emmanuel Invitational. In Friday's play, the Lady Flames will face Francis Marion (SC) at 10:30 a.m. followed by Southern Wesleyan (SC) at 3:30 p.m.

Julia Davis led the attacks with nine kills. Freshman Carmen Perez followed with eight kills and seven receptions. Another newcomer, Naomi Hockless tallied seven slams while Macy Petty and freshman Isabella Harding added four kills each.

Lee applied the pressure from the opener with 14 service aces. Petty, in a starting role, had four aces while Ashton Middleton and Clarissa Soza countered with three apiece. Petty also went up for a pair of blocks. Perez went to the floor for seven digs. Kamryn Halpin came away with six, Davis five and Taylor White three.

The visitors could only muster 12 kills against the solid Lee net play by Petty, Davis, Harding, Allie Scurlock and Hockless.

Coach Christa Fabre thoughts:

"It was great to see some of our freshmen come in and get some reps in the game. Carmen Perez and Bella Harding played with confidence and executed well. Our serving was strong with Macy Petty leading with four aces. We kept them out of system and sided out with strong efficiency.

"We are hoping to see more from some of our younger girls this weekend.
