Lady Flames Ready to Return to Walker Arena

CLEVELAND, Tenn.-It will be bounce back time for the Lee University Lady Flames as they return to Walker Arena after dropping three straight road games and slipping to third place (7-3) in the Gulf South Conference standings behind Union University and Valdosta State University (9-1). Christian Brothers University visits on Thursday (5:30 PM) before Union comes to town for a key contest on Saturday (2:00 PM).

Lee is 7-0 inside Walker Arena this season and 3-0 when facing GSC teams. Since joining the GSC in 2015-16, the Lady Flames are 106-18 when playing at home. The Lady Flames will be facing a Christian Brothers team that has lost seven straight games. Lee has won nine straight in the series with CBU. The Lady Bucs' last win came back on Jan. 12, 2017, when they claimed a 60-55 win.

CBU is led by Jeremia Montgomery who is tops in almost every stat category: points (14.8 ppg), rebounds 7.0 (rpg), assists 2.1 (apg), and blocks (1.0 bpg).

Mallory Hampton is coming off a career-high 36-point game in the loss to West Georgia on Monday evening. The senior guard is leading the GSC in scoring (19.6 ppg). She is also No. 11 in the NCAA DII scoring average. In only her second season at Lee, Mallory is closing in on 1,000 collegiate points, only 19 points shy of the mark.

Powerful Union Visit
Union has won five straight since its only loss to Valdosta State, and the winning stretch will likely reach six as it will face Shorter before the big visit to Lee on Saturday. The 6th ranked Lady Bulldogs are averaging over 96 ppg (No.1 in DII) and have scored over 100 points in seven wins this season.

Macey Lee is Union's leading scorer with a 13.8 ppg average, but coach Mark Campbell uses 12 players who average playing double-figure figure minutes in each game. Three average double-figure points and three others over nine points. Jazalyn Anousinh is the lady who runs this ship. In over 22 minutes per game, she has dished off 88 assists.

Last season the Lady Flames and Lady Bulldogs met three times with Lee winning in Jackson and Union coming to Cleveland and claiming a victory. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Flames again in the finals of the GSC Tournament.
