Flames Post Four New Provisional Times at Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON – The Lee University men's track team recorded four new NCAA Division II Provisional Standards at the 2024 Boston University Thomas Terrier Classic. The meet was held Friday and Saturday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

The distance medley relay team of Ryan Lovelace, Niquaine Henry, Titus Lagat and Jacob Hatcher completed the weekend with a fourth-place finish time of 9:47.81 to beat the provisional mark of 10:03.10. Florida State University posted the top time at 9:36.76, while Indiana (9:44.58) was second and Wingate placed third (9:44.62).

Lagat completed the 800-meter run in 1:52.40 (25th) to eclipse the qualifying time of 1:52.46.

Aaron Himes and Matthew Fowler each finished ahead of the 5000-meter standard of 14:26.38. Himes placed 31st at 14:18.36 and Fowler was 35th with a time of 14:24.07. Ezekiel Harless joined them in the 5000 and finished 49th (14:46.90).

Hatcher hit the provisional mark of 4:09.80 in the mile for the second consecutive week with a 52nd place time of 4:06.95. He recorded a time of 4:04.61 last week at the Vanderbilt Invite. Lovelace's time of 4:18.03 put him in 133rd position.

Henry stopped the clock at 48.81 seconds to finish 16th in the 400-meter dash. His time just missed the 48.52 mark needed to provisionally qualify.

The Flames are scheduled to travel to Columbia, S.C., for the South Carolina Invite the weekend of February 2-3 before competing in the GSC Indoor Track & Field Championships February 15-16.
