Lady Flames Set School Record and Take Fifth at LeeAnn Noble Memorial Tournament

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Two solid rounds for the Lee University women's golf team led them to a fifth-place finish at the annual LeeAnn Noble Memorial Invitational hosted by the University of North Georgia on Tuesday. The Lady Flames shot a 871 (286-304-284) over the three rounds to take fifth in a strong tournament. It was the lowest 54-hole total for the Lady Flames in school history. They just beat the record of 875 set in the last tournament two weeks prior at the Savannah Lakes Invitational.

For the second tournament in a row, Banthita "Pearl" Phocharatkun earned all-tournament team honors as she came in fifth place with a 209. The Lady Flames tied a team record for low round vs par with a -4 on the day. It tied a -4 round with the 2014 team at the BSC Southern Shootout.

Anderson University won the tournament shooting an 837 over the three rounds. As a team the Trojans shot an incredible 271 in round two for a 17 under score. Anderson won the tournament by 16 strokes. The host school UNG was second place while Wingate University and the University of Findlay were third and fourth place respectively.

It was a record setting tournament across the board. In round one, Wingate broke the 18-hole team scoring record at -11 and then Anderson broke it again in round at -17. Banthita Phoncharatkun from Lee broke the individual 18-hole tournament record in round at -7 (66). That record was then broken by Mary Kelly Mulcahy from Findlay at -8 (64) in round two.

Amely Bochton from Wingate won the tournament setting the tournament 54-hole scoring record with a 199 (-17) in the process. She also shot a 132 after 36 holes which also set a tournament record at -12.

Banthita "Pearl" Phocharatkun led the Lady Flames once again. She had a fifth-place finish with a 209 (66-72-71). Her 66 is the second lowest round in Lee University history and was her personal best.

Hannah Nall came in 13th for the Lady Flames with a 215 (68-75-72). Her first round was the lowest of her collegiate career. Freshman Lehane Louis-Dumond had a strong final round shooting a 68 to come in 39th. That was her best collegiate round as well. In the three rounds she shot a 224 (78-78-68). Haley Blevins shot one stroke more the Louis-Dumond and came in 47th with a 225 (74-78-73).

Freshman Emilia Nortdström came in 62nd with a 231 (78-76-77). The final competitor for the Lady Flames was Hope Harrell who was playing as an independent. She came in 68th with a 233 (72-75-86).

The Lady Flames will have one more tournament this fall. They will compete at the Ralph Hayes Toyota D2 Elite Invitational in Toccoa, Ga. on October 28-29.

Coach Geandra Almeida's Thoughts:

"I'm incredibly proud of our team this week. We came out strong in the first round, with Pearl shooting an impressive -6 and Hannah at -4, giving us a combined -10 under par—an outstanding start! Haley followed up with the third-best score, and Lehane and Emilia rounded out our lineup. The second round brought its challenges as we struggled to maintain that same momentum, finishing +13 as a team. Despite this, Pearl stayed steady with an even-par round and kept herself in the top 5 individually.

For the third round, our goal was clear: we wanted to post our best score of the tournament. I couldn't be more proud of how the girls responded to the challenge. We bounced back brilliantly after the frustrating second round, shooting -4 under as a team. Freshman Lehane Louis-Dumond stepped up with her best college round yet, followed by Pearl at -1 and Hannah at even par. Haley capped off our score with a solid 73.

There are so many positives to take from this event. While a top 5 finish might not seem flashy, I'm extremely proud of the progress we're making as a team. Each time we compete, we continue to improve. I told the girls to stay focused on our own process, and they've responded exactly the way we needed. This is just the beginning of what we're capable of!"
