Powerful West Florida Hands Volleyball 3-0 Defeat

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida improved its unbeaten Gulf South Conference volleyball record to 19-0 and overall mark to 24-5 with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-12) impressive win over Lee University on Friday evening. The Lady Flames will wrap up their road adventures and close out their regular season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Valdosta State University for a 1 p.m. contest.

In Friday's defeat, the Lady Flames were led by freshman Payton Danley who had nine kills and a .227 attack percentage. She also had two blocks. Sara Palumbo followed with eight kills. Berra Soyler had three kills and Grace Mazzocca finished with two. Soyler dished off 11 assists and Madison Dahl added eight.

Lee had only two aces, one by Palumbo and the other by Naomi Hockless. Mazzocca went high for a pair of blocks. Izzy Denton and Soyler were the dig leaders with eight apiece while Palumbo and Mikayla Buhr added five each.

The Argos were solid across the net. They had six different players hitting .400 or better. They were led by Emily Breazeale with 12 kills. Delaney Hanowell was impressive with nine kills and her attack mark of .571. Jenna Zydlo added eight slams. Gabi Moulton was the team leader with 34 assists while Camryn Brooks served up four aces.

Coach Christa Fabre's thoughts:
"West Florida is such a strong team with a great offense. Their setter does a great job running the offense and has plenty of options. We did some things well but definitely struggled defensively. To beat a team like them requires a lot of discipline and we didn't have it tonight. Quick turnaround against a tough team to finish our regular season!"
