Flames Tame Dragons In Non-Conference Action

CLEVELAND, Tenn. –A huge rebounding performance helped propel the Lee University men's basketball team past Lance College 94-55 on Monday evening. Five Flames scored in double figures and were led by GianCarlo Valdez who had 19. Tylon Chatman also added a career high 13 points

Lee had 51 total rebounds which was the most since a game against Edward Waters last season. The Flames had 21 offensive rebounds and 30 defensive boards in the win while Lane only had 24 total rebounds.

The Flames started slowly out of the gate and had four turnovers in the first two minutes and did not even attempt a shot. But then Chatman and Willie Walton led a very efficient stretch. Over a four-minute span, the Flames were 7-for-7 from the floor and went on13-5 run to pull ahead.

The Flames were very disciplined in the first half as well as it took nine minutes for Lee to commit a foul. In the game Lee only committed 13 fouls with none of the players earning more than two.

Lee had one more 13-0 run in the first half to lead it 46-21 at the break.

The Flames continued to work the painted area against the Dragons as Lee had 44 points in the paint including 24 second chance points in the win.
