NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene pulled even with the Lee volleyball team in the GSC standings by posting a convincing 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-18, 26-24) on Thursday evening inside the Trojan Fieldhouse. Both teams own a 13-7 league mark. The Lady Flames stand at 16-13 overall and Trevecca moves to 13-15. Lee continues its road adventures on Saturday and faces Auburn at Montgomery in a 6 p.m. contest.

The Trojans wasted no time in winning the first set and grabbed the lead in the second set before the Lady Flames managed a comeback and forced the Trevecca timeout. However, the home squad regrouped and won the set going away and took a 2-0 advantage.

The third set was more of the same. Trevecca moved on top and forced Coach Christa Fabre to use both of her timeouts. However, the Lady Flames refused to go down without a fight and forced extra points before the Trojans used both of their timeouts and won the final set 26-24.

Lee was led by freshman Payton Danley who had 12 kills. Julia Davis had a solid effort with eight kills and an attack percentage of .467. Sara Palumbo returned from the injured list and had eight kills and her attack mark stood at .295. However, the overall attack percentage was not on par for the Lady Flames as they finished with a .161 percentage.

Lee also suffered in the service department in one of the few times this season. The team recorded only two aces and had 10 service errors. Berra Soyler dished off 22 assists and Izzy Denton registered 13 digs. The Trojans got solid efforts up and down the chart and were led by Elizabeth Wells who had 11 kills and an excellent .526 attack percentage. Overall, Trevecca hit .202 for the match. Skias Hartline set her teammates up with 25 assists. The Trojans also had eight aces, 14 blocks and Maddie Wilds came up with 10 digs.

Coach Christa Fabre's thoughts:

"Definitely not the performance we had hoped for from this team. Our ball control wasn't as strong as it usually is, so we were out of system the majority of the time. We missed several serves and waited until too late in each set to show up. We made a strong run at the end of the third set but could not close it out.

This team is truly resilient and I am confident that we will find a way to bounce back to compete again on Saturday."
