Hawkins, Clemons Meet Provisional Qualifying Marks

Lady Flames Compete in Birmingham and Boston

BOSTON/BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lee University women's track & field team competed in two separate meets this weekend. The Lady Flames were at the Birmingham CrossPlex for the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker on Friday, while five others traveled to Boston for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.

Aria Hawkins and Estella Clemons each met an NCAA Division II Provisional Standard in Boston on Saturday. Hawkins surpassed the standard of 9:53.07 in the 3000-meter Run. She placed sixth in her heat and was 42nd overall with a time of 9:19.54. Clemons won her heat of the Mile and was 21st overall with a qualifying time of 4:52.19. The time to beat was 4:55.64.

Joining Hawkins in the 3000 were Lily Hare and Ana Patricia Campos. Hare placed 99th (9:56.44) and Campos finished 106th (10:00.68).

Clemons also placed 14th in the 800-meter Run after stopping the clock at 2:16.44. Katie Beam joined Clemons in both the 800 and Mile. Beam crossed the finish line at 2:17.87 for 18th in the 800 and recorded a time of 5:05.24 for 36th in the Mile.

Brynn Depinet and Jydia Faucette participated in the 60-meter Dash at the CrossPlex on Friday. Depinet's time of 8.14 seconds put her in 45th and Faucette was 47th at 8.19.

Four Lady Flames made up the field of the 200-meter Dash. Liz Lannom was sixth at 24.83 seconds. Maddox Mayfield (26.96) was 38th, Sydney White placed 39th (27.03) and Ane Peasley (27.16) finished 44th. Mayfield added a fifth-place finish with a time of 58.15 seconds in the 400-meter Dash. Lily Brown placed 43rd (1:05.28).

Abi Moore finished fifth in both the 800-meter Run and the Mile. Moore had a time of 2:21.15 in the 800 and 5:11.22 in the Mile. Lyndi Chapman was sixth (5:19.57) in the Mile.

Chapman led four other Lady Flames to the finish line of the 3000-meter Run. She claimed fifth with a time of 10:18.85. Katie Krueger (10:36.58) was 12th with Kaylee Estridge (10:37.23) right behind in 13th. Julia Halterman was 16th (10:48.22) and Karis Kelley finished 24th (11:16.54).

Peasley, Lannom, Brown and White were part of the 60-meter Hurdles field. Peasley crossed at 9.01 seconds for 13th. Lannom and Brown tied for 18th (9.22) and White (9.92) was 35th.

Lannom and White also battled in the High Jump. Lannom cleared 1.65 meters for second and White went over 1.45 meters for 21st. Faucette covered 4.87 meters to place 27th in the Long Jump.

Depinet was Lee's top finisher in the Pole Vault. Her successful clearance at 3.55 meters put her in sixth place. Nicole Counter cleared 3.25 meters (15th), while Ayla Misavage went over 2.95 meters for 27th.

Graice Waite, Samara Brinks and Olivia Davidson were Lee's representatives in the Shot Put and Weight Throw. In the shot, Waite was ninth (12.67 meters), Brinks (11.01) was 24th and Davidson placed 26th (10.81). Brinks tossed the weight 15.99 meters to place 11th. Waite was 32nd with a measurement of 12.38 meters and Davidson was 33rd at 12.04 meters.

The Lady Flames will take some time off for the semester break and will return to action the weekend of January 17-19. The men will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday and Saturday followed by a return to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the KMS Invitational on Sunday.
