Lady Flames Fall In Tough Battle With Embry-Riddle

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lee University women's lacrosse team fell, 21-13, to ninth-ranked Embry-Riddle on Sunday afternoon from the Ray Conn Sports Complex.

Brittney White paced the Lady Flames with five goals. Maggie Luzier pitched in with four and Hannah Vecsey dished out four assists. Kamille Kremkau had a game-high ten draw controls and Caleigh Smith recorded four ground balls to lead the hosts.  Luzier scored the first two goals of the contest to put Lee (7-5) up early in the opening period. Embry-Riddle (10-1) responded with three goals to take the lead and the two teams traded goals to be even at four with 2:24 in the first. The Eagles rattled off seven straight goals to end the half and took an, 11-5, lead into the locker room.

The guests used another, 6-0, run in the second half to begin to put the game away and take the game, 21-13. Kaleigh Bernard got the start in goal for Lee, recording three saves. Caleigh Smith recorded a pair of saves in her 25 minutes in net. Caitlin Gavin and Callison Foreman led the Eagles with five goals each. Kenley Zeruto pitched six assists, and Eliana Enners had four ground balls and six draw controls to lead Embry-Riddle. Ella-Rae Cox got the start and went the whole contest in the goal, recording 11 saves on 24 shots on goal. 

The Lady Flames open up Gulf South Conference action on Thursday as they take on UAH beginning at 4 p.m.
