Lady Flames Get First GSC Win Over Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. In Saturday's high scoring Gulf South Conference matchup against University of Montevallo, the Lee University Lady Flames Lacrosse team earned the win on the road 14-11. It was the first GSC win on the season for the Lady Flames.

In the first quarter, The Falcons scored the first two goals of the
game, however the Lady Flames gained momentum by scoring four consecutive goals by junior Kat Sweeny, redshirt junior Makenna Luzier and redshirt senior Maggie Luzier.

Freshman Kamille Kremakau had an impressive second quarter showing, scoring both the first goal and the last goal of the quarter. Brittany White and Noelle Harrington also both scored in the second quarter on unassisted goals.

In the draw control area, the Lady Flames dominated the game with 20 compared to the Falcon's 11. Another strong suit for the Lady Flames this season.

Coming back from halftime, Lee allowed Montevallo's Jenna Piazza to score the first goal of the third quarter. However, to end the quarter the Lady Flames scored three consecutive goals winning the scoring battle in the third quarter.

Lee scored first in the fourth quarter; however they struggled defensively in the period giving up four goals, two of them being free position shots. Nearing the end of the fourth, Kremakau forced a turnover on Falcon's Lily Moats picking up the ground ball, keeping Montevallo from
scoring the rest of the game.

Both teams did struggle in the turnover area, with both having 17 on the day.

The Lady Flames will stay  on the road with another GSC matchup on April 16 against Shorter University in Rome Ga.
