Flames Battle To a Scoreless Draw with Trevecca

CLEVELAND, Tenn. –After battling for 90 minutes, neither the homestanding Lee University men's soccer team nor the visiting Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans could find the back of the net and the Gulf South Conference matchup ended in a draw. Both teams hit the frame of the goal but could not score as the Flames record went to 4-5-3 overall and 1-3-3 in GSC play while Trevecca went to 4-6-2 and 1-5-1
Lee outshot the Trojans 12-9 including 5-3 with shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Charles Carriglitto came up with big saves in the first half to keep TNU off the board.

The best opportunity for the Flames came in the second half when Feliz Niedwetski had a shot from the right side of the box. His blast was barely tipped by the Trevecca goalkeeper Hunter Walker and it glanced off the post. Walker ended the game with five saves.

Both teams had ten fouls in the contest and there were three yellows given to both teams.

Lee will head to the Magnolia State next week. They will take on Mississippi College on Friday, October 24th in Clinton, Miss.

Coach Derek Potteiger's Thoughts:
"The game went back and forth I thought we were really invested. We've talked about how beat up we were, so our team's main objective today was to get out there and fight. We can hold our heads high that we did that, just unfortunately couldn't get the win."
