CLINTON, Miss. – An early goal was all Mississippi College needed to defeat the visiting Lee University men's soccer team on Friday afternoon. The Choctaws added two more late goals to earn a 3-0 shutout over the Flames. It was the sixth straight win for MC as they improved to 8-14 overall and 6-0-2 in Gulf South Conference action. The Flames fell to 4-6-3 overall and 1-4-3 in GSC play.
In just the third minute, the Choctaws Ben Britton found the bottom left corner of the net to make it a one goal lead. The Flames tried to play catchup the rest of the night but failed to score a goal. MC added a goal from Aimar Calomarde in the 62
nd minute, and then Sergio Garrido had a penalty kick goal in the 84
th minute to give MC their third and final goal.
MC outshot the Flames 16-10 in the contest. Ethan Stewart had four shots with one on goal to lead the Flames. Despite giving up three goals, Paul Northcutt made eight saves in the net for Lee.
The Flames had two yellow cards and MC had one in the win.
Lee will wrap up the road trip with a match on Sunday in Cleveland, Miss. against Delta State University.

"I don't think the score reflects our performance, as I think we did some good things as a team today, but when you continue to struggle to find the back of the net then the score line can get away from you. The quick turnaround is hard, but it also forces us to turn our attention to Delta State where we need to go and get a result."
