CLEVELAND, Miss. – A late goal for Delta State University doomed the Lee University men's soccer team as they dropped their second straight road game in Mississippi. A goal in the 87
th minute for Alfie Lally gave DSU the 2-1 advantage and the win. With the loss Lee fell to 4-7-3 on the year and 1-5-3 in GSC play.
DSU took the lead in the16th minute on a penalty kick by Lally. Six minutes later Shay Gillen scored his first goal of the year to tie the game up. Lally's game winner came in the 87
th minute off of a free kick.
The Flames outshot the Statesmen 15-12, but DSU goalkeeper Mason Baglio came up with five saves and the team added two more. The Flames had two goalkeepers play and Charles Carriglitto and Paul Northcutt each gave up a goal.
Zane Marsh had four shots for Lee and Farid Chouyouti had three but neither could find the back of the net.
DSU committed 16 fouls while Lee had 12 and two yellow cards.
Lee will be back at home on Friday, October 31
st for senior day. The Flames will host Union University at 7:30 PM.
