PENSACOLA, Fla. –After a scoreless first half, the University of West Florida scored two late goals to give the Argos a win over the visiting Lee University men's soccer team on Friday night. It is the second straight loss for the Flames to the Argos. With the loss, Lee fell to 3-4-2 overall and 0-3-2 in GSC action while UWF improved to 5-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in GSC play.
The Flames and Argos were very balanced in the first half. Both teams had six shots in the first 45 minutes, and each had a shot on goal. Both teams had one save while UWF committed one more foul.
UWF had the majority of the chances in the second half. Lee only attempted two shots with both on goal while UWF had eight shots with five on goal. Manu Bernbeu broke the deadlock in the 69
th minute with an unassisted goal. The dagger for the Argos came in the 88
th minute when Adrian Rodriguez found Kendrick Hernandez who scored to make it 2-0.
Marius Brandtun led the way for the Flames with three shots and two on goal. Paul Northcutt had four saves in the loss.
Lee had 12 fouls while UWF had 16. Both teams had two yellow cards with Carlos Fernandes and Will Tidwell picking them up for the Flames.
Lee will look to rebound on Sunday in Mobile, Ala. The Flames will take on Spring Hill College at 4:30 PM.
