HICKORY, N.C. – The Lee University men's basketball team lost their first game of the season with a 101-64 loss to Lenoir Rhyne University on Saturday. Despite for Flames scoring in double figures they could not catch up to the Bears. With the loss the Flames are now 2-1 on the year and will have one more no-conference game at home on Tuesday, November 25 at 6 PM against Claflin University.
In a game the Flames never led, Lee kept it close for most of the first half. Zach Gray hit back-to-back threes to make it 20-24 game with seven minutes left in the first half. Then LR went on a big run to end the frame. Lenoir Rhyne led it 48-27 at the break and then scored 53 points in the second half for their 101 points.
Lee was 24-of-63 from the field while LR was 39-for-60 shooting. Lee had one less turnover, but Lenoir Rhyne had 20 more rebounds.
Zach Gray led the way with 16 points. Dayveun Anderson had 12 with Willie Walton adding 10 and Ben Ritger scoring 11.
