Walton Hits Game Winner in Homecoming Victory over Dalton State

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Willie Walton hit a three-point shot with eight seconds left in the contest as the Lee University men's basketball team defeat Dalton State College on a thrilling homecoming basketball game on Saturday afternoon in Walker Arena. In a game that featured 12 lead changes, the Flames led by as many as 14 and trailed by as many as seven and mounted a comeback in the last three minutes to get the win over the roadrunners. 
 
The Flames will now open the season on Monday, November 17 against Lindsey Wilson College.
 
Zach Gray scored all 21 of his points in the second half as the junior let the Flames in a second half comeback. Tylon Chatman also scored 20 points in the exhibition win.
 
Lee jumped out to an early 20 to 9 lead in the first half before Dalton State started to cut into the deficit the roadrunners tie the game at 27 and then took the lead at the halftime break 3531.
 
The Flames started strong in the second half cutting into the deficit. They were led by Gray who rattled off six straight points scores eventually tied at 55-55 and the two teams traded buckets, the rest of the way
 
Lee lead by three points with it just over two minutes ago before Dalton State re-took the lead the final minute featured multiple lead changes.
 
In the final possession for the flames Walton got a pass from Dayveun Anderson and he hit a three in the left corner to give Lee the 76-74 lead with eight seconds left. Dalton State ran the floor but could not get off a good look, and the Flames held on for the win.
 
Lee shot 26-of-60 from the floor for 43% and was 15-for-19 from the free throw line. The Roadrunners shot 42% from the field, but were only 15-of-28 from charity.
