Flames Host High-Scoring Argos and Blazers

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - If you are a basketball fan who enjoys scoring, Paul Dana Walker Arena might be the place to be on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon. The University of West Florida visits averaging over 94 points per game and Valdosta State University comes calling with an over 100 per contest scoring mark.

Coach Bubba Smith has always taken pride in his team's playing defense and has his club working overtime after suffering a pair of road defeats at league-leading University of West Alabama and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The Flames, 2-2 against Gulf South Conference opponents and 5-3 overall face West Florida on Thursday (7:30) and Valdosta State on Saturday (4 p.m.). The Argos visit with a 1-2, 8-3 record, while the Blazers come in at 1-2, 6-3.

While Anthony Igiede averages over 16 points per game and Elijah Wyche 14, the Argos go deep into their bench with 16 players showing on the stat sheet. Drew Mills (15 ppg) leads the Blazers, but Blaise Wallace is the man down low averaging a double-double (13 ppg, 11 rpg).

The Flames will counter with the leaping and running of Tylon Chatman. He scores 14.5 points per game and has a total of 41 assists. Zach Gray is dangerous from deep and scores at a 13.5 clip. Dayveun Anderson averages 12 points and the hustling Willie Walton comes on as the sixth man to score in double figures.
