Lady Flames Seek to Bounce Back Against Argos, Blazers

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Coach Marty Rowe and his Lee University women's basketball team have worked hard in practice since suffering back-to-back road defeats to the University of West Alabama and the University of Alabama in Huntsville last week. The Lady Flames will host a pair of Gulf South Conference rivals in the University of West Florida on Thursday (5:30 p.m.) and Valdosta State University on Saturday (2 p.m.)

West Florida is 2-1 in conference play and 7-3 overall. The Argonauts are in second place in the GSC standings. The Lady Flames have dropped into a tie for fourth place. Valdosta State will be at Trevecca on Thursday before coming to Lee. The Blazers are off to an unusual slow start at 1-2, 3-5.

The battle between the Lady Flames will feature a pair of post-players. Amelia Bell is a 6-foot-2 graduate student who is in her first season with UWF after transferring from Mississippi College. She leads the Argos in scoring 13.6 ppg and rebounding 7.5 boards per outing. She has 15 total blocks.

Lee counters with the consistent play of 6-foot senior Anna Muhonen. She has scored double figures in all 10 Lady Flames games and averages 15.1 points and 9 rebounds per outing. Libby Privett, a redshirt sophomore who transferred to Lee from Wofford College is right behind Muhonen in scoring, averaging 14.9 ppg.
