Ninteretse Places 13th in 3000-meter run at DII Indoor Championships

RESULTS

INDIANAPOLIS – The Lee University men's track & field team completed its time at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships with a 13th-place finish by Edimo Ninteretse in the 3000-meter run. The Flames did not record a team point in the three events they competed.

Ninteretse entered the race seeded 17th with a time of 7:57.98 and placed 13th today after crossing the finish line at 8:08.05. He was in 14th for seven of the first eight 200-meter intervals. Ninteretse moved up to 13th for the next 600 meters before peaking at 12th position between 2400 and 2800 meters. Over the final 200 meters, Ninteretse dropped one spot to finish in 13th.

Romain Legendre of Adams State was the winner of the race with a time of 7:46.38. Ninteretse missed the top 12 by 0.10 seconds. Wingate's Joaquin Campos finished at 8:07.95.

Ninteretse also placed 16th (14:14.14) in the 5000-meter run and Ryan Lovelace was 10th in the mile on Thursday.
