All-Academic Team
Honor Roll
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Lee University athletic department had eight athletes named to the Gulf South Conference Winter All-Academic Team and an additional 62 athletes were named to the honor roll. The winter sports includes men's and women's basketball and men's and women's track and field. Mallory Hampton, Haylee Johnson, Megan Adams, Lily Hare, Aria Hawkins, Liezl Theron, Luke Gaddis, and Ryan Lovelace were the eight named to the All-Academic teams.
Lee had the second most athletes in the conference selected as All-Academic members. Mississippi College led the way with nine.
From the women's basketball team, Haylee Johnson has a 3.657 GPA in Biochemistry. She was a First Team All-GSC and a second team South Region D2CCA member , and has been on the honor roll all four years. She was ninth in the GSC in scoring and led the conference in assists. She has 30 more assists than anyone else this season in the conference. Johnson took over games at one point. In a seven game stretch, she averaged 19.7 points per game, 8.6 assists a game, and 5.6 rebounds a game. She almost had a triple double in three different games. She is top in assists, 5th in assist/turnover ratio, and 18th in steals. She scored 30 against Montevallo and has scored 20 or more points in a game six times. She also played 53 minutes in a 3OT game against MC and did not commit a foul.
Also from women's basketball, Mallory Hampton has a 3.672 GPA in Health science. She was a WBCA Honor mention All-American, a First Team All-GSC the last two seasons, and a First Team South Region D2CCA member. She has also been three times on the honor roll. She was on the GSC All Tournament team as well. Led GSC in scoring until injury in January. Came back from injury and helped lead team to GSC semifinals. She was third in GSC in scoring, 1st in FT%, and 3rd in FG%
Ryan Lovelace has a 3.88 GPA in political science on the men's track and field team. He won the mile run at the GSC Championships and helped lead the Flames to a second place finish in the DMR. At the NCAA Championship he came in ninth in the mile run. He also came in third in the 3000-meter race. He has been on the honor roll twice and was on the cross country all-academic team.
Luke Gaddis has a 4.0 GPA in biology. He was the GSC Champion Scholar Athlete at this years GSC Indoor track and field championship. He has been on the honor roll twice. He came in ninth in the 5000 meter run and 14th in the 800 meter run.
Aria Hawkins has a 3.55 GPA in psychology. She was the GSC track athlete of the year. Hawkins claimed First Team All-GSC honors during the 2025 Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 800-meter and 3000-meter. She also was part of the first place DMR. At the national championships she was third in the 3000-meter and part of the DMR tea, that came in sixth. She was a cross country all-academic team member this fall. She has also been on the honor roll multiple times.
Liezl Theron has a 3.64 GPA in biological science. Theron earned GSC Field Athlete of the Year. She also earned the honor in 2022. Theron was First Team All-GSC in the high jump and the pentathlon. This is the second time Theron has been named the GSC Field Athlete of the Year. She was on the all-academic team in last year and in 2023.
Lily Hare has a 3.72 GPA in elementary education. She was on the all academic team for cross country in the fall and indoor track and field last year. She was also on the 2023 indoor all academic team. She won the mile run at the GSC championship and earned the win by almost three seconds with a time of 4:51.55. She was part of the relay that Lee ran away with. The distance medley relay title won by 52 seconds and set a new GSC indoor record in the process. At the NCAA Championship she was part of the DMR team that came in sixth place.
Megan Adams has a 3.99 GPA in health science. She was on the cross country all academic team. Megan won the 5000-meter race at the GSC Championships and came in fourth in the 3000 meter run.

- 50-plus Club: Four schools had 50 or more student-athletes on the honor roll – UAH (80), Montevallo (64), Lee (62), and Trevecca (56).
- Nine schools were represented across the four All-Academic Teams … Mississippi College had the most All-Academic honorees (nine). Lee followed with eight. UAH and Trevecca had five each.
- Four Athletes of the Year were named All-Academic – Tommy Murr (UAH, MBB), Sam Wilhelm (UAH, MITF), Aria Hawkins (Lee, WITF) and Liezl Theron (Lee, WITF).
To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better and have competed in outside competition at the time the award was announced.
To be named to the GSC All-Academic team, nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better their entire academic career at their institution and may not be a freshmen or first-term transfer. The student-athlete must also be a significant contributor to the team. Other factors include leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities. Institutions are not allowed to vote for their student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.
