CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lee University Men's Track & Field team is in third place following the first day of competition at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Track & Field Championships. With four of the 21 events completed, Alabama Huntsville leads the field with 49 points. Mississippi College is second with 47 points and Lee sits in third with 44 points. Montevallo (15) and Christian Brothers (1) are fourth and fifth, respectively.

The second day of the three-day event at the Ray Conn Sports Complex is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Friday.

The Flames amassed 26 points in the 3000-meter steeplechase and added 16 more in the 10000-meter run.

Stephen Clark was the first of five Lee runners in the top eight of the steeplechase. He was the individual champion with a time of 9:00.46 to win by over one second ahead of UAH's Nathan Knox. Luke Gaddis placed third (9:07.52) with Tal Old (9:16.76) in fourth and Parker Campbell fifth (9:19.84). Caleb Guthery added another point with an eighth-place time of 9:31.04.

Pierre Chauveau and Aaron Himes gave Lee two more top-three finishes in the 10000. Chauveau was the first runner to cross the finish line at 31:21.51 to win the championship. Himes placed third with a time of 31:31.31. William Ta posted a time of 34:31.12 for 13^th place.

Camden Williams finished eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.45 meters. Carrington Tate was 10^th with a throw of 41.21 meters.

In the long jump, Jacob Salters covered 6.69 meters to claim eighth place. Hudson Hunt was 14^th with a jump of 6.03 meters.

Aiden Shaw and Eli Cobble advanced out of the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash. Shaw posted the overall top time at 21.22 seconds and Cobble's time (21.54) was third-fastest. Cooper Giddens stopped the clock at 21.79 seconds to finish 12^th.

With five of the 10 events completed in the Decathlon, Cameron Stine leads by 228 points with a total of 3,570 points. Isaac Iosia is in seventh place with 2,813 points. Still to be contested are the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javeline and 1500-meter run.
