Flames Post Four New Provisional Marks At Lee Last Chance

Evan Moore met the provisional standard in the 1500-meter run on Satruday.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lee University men's track & field team reached four new NCAA Division II Provisional marks Saturday afternoon at the Lee University Last Chance at Ray Conn Sports Complex. The single day meet was held on the next-to-last day an athlete could record a qualifying mark.

The Flames had two members meet the provisional mark in the 3000-meter steeplechase, one more in the 1500-meter run and a fourth in the 10000-meter run. Stephen Clark and Luke Gaddis met the standard of 9:11.00 in the steeplechase as they placed first and second, respetively. Clark crossed the finish line at 8:47.77 to post the seventh-fastest time among DII athletes so far this season, while Gaddis reported the No. 13 time of 8:51.21.

Parker Campbell was fourth in the event with a time of 9:14.21 to just miss the provisional mark.

Evan Moore finished third in the 1500 with a new provisional mark of 3:44.90. The time is No. 23 on the performance list. Jacob Hatcher's fourth-place time of 3:45.55 also was below the standard but did not improve upon his 3:44.59 time he set at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Tal Old placed 16th (3:53.04), Xian Campbell was 21st (3:56.55) and Caleb Guthery finished 23rd (3:58.16) in the 1500.

Pierre Chauveau was the fourth runner with a new provisional. He finished first in the 10000 with a time of 29:46.33 to land at No. 42 on the performance list.

The Flames had three competitors in the 200-meter dash. Aiden Shaw finished 10th at 21.61 seconds. Eli Cobble was 16th (21.91) and Cooper Giddens placed 20th (22.08).

Cobble was 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.26 seconds. Shaw was 12th (48.21), Giddens placed 18th (49.44) and David Johnson finished 25th (50.16).

Markel Kelly was the lone Lee entry in the 110-meter hurdles. He stopped the clock at 15.03 seconds to place sixth. Elijah Moran was 19th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:54.31.

Jacob Salters covered 14.00 meters to place third in the triple jump. Camden Williams was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.69 meters. Williams also placed second with a mark of 46.48 meters in the discus, while Braxton Philpott throw of 42.61 meters put him in sixth place.

The 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Track & Field Championships field is scheduled to be posted online by 5 p.m on Tuesday, May 13. The national committee will select the top 22 in individual events, top 16 in combined events and top 16 relays from the declared athletes meeting a provisional standard.
