Williams, Delbridge Pace Lady Flames to Win Over Christian Brothers

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Kara Williams tied her career high of 16 points when she made 4-of-5 3-point attempts and was 2-of-2 from the charity stripe in leading the Lee women's basketball team to a 63-45 victory over Christian Brothers University inside Walker Arena on Saturday afternoon. Baylee Delbridge also established her new rebounding record (12) as the Lady Flames improved to 7-4 in GSC play and 11-5 overall. The Buccaneers dropped to 0-11, 3-14.

Lee returns to its road adventures on Thursday at Auburn University at Montgomery and then faces the University of Montevallo on Saturday before returning home for a key contest against the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

While Williams was leading the way, Anna Muhonen finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and joined Libby Privett in leading the team with five assists. Privett also had nine points and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Lee moved out to a 17-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Christian Brothers outscored the Lady Flames 10-9 in the low-scoring second frame and Lee held a 26-21 margin at the break. The third period was a different story as the Lady Flames outscored CBU 23-13, leading 49-34 and it was no contest the rest of the way.

Overall, the Lady Flames had 18 assists to 10 turnovers while forcing the visitors to 17 floor mistakes. Lee shot 36% (23-of-64) from the field and also made 36% (9-of-25) triples. They were awarded 14 freebies and converted eight (57%). Lee outrebounded the Bucs 42-34 and the bench outscored CBU 18-4.

Donee' Frazier was a one-lady show for Christian Brothers. She powered her way to 29 points, making 7-of-13 field-goal attempts and hitting 15-of-19 free throws. Mya Bourget countered with eight points and eight rebounds while Mariah Curley was her team's leading rebounder with nine.

CBU shot 29% overall (12-of-43) and did not make a 3-point attempt (0-of-8). They marched to the charity stripe 31 times and converted 21 (68%).

Coach Marty Rowe's thoughts:
"Give CBU credit today for competing from the tip, that's what our team needed today. We were not our sharpest on either end but we hung in there and had that opening run to start the third that allowed us to relax a bit. This was a really good week for us and we are looking to keep getting better each day."
