NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships coming up in less than a week, the Lee University women's team decided to rest most of its members and sent just the distance medley team to the Indoor Music City Challenge. The meet was held on the Indoor Track at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.
The foursome of Katie Beam, Maddox Mayfield, Kaylen Owen and Aria Hawkins finished third behind Vanderbilt (11:20.73) and Ole Miss (11.25.48). The Lee women crossed the finish line at 11:28.93 to complete the race 15 seconds ahead of GSC foe Mississippi College (11:43.97).
The Lady Flames beat the provisional qualifying time of 11:58.03 and currently hold the fifth-fastest time posted in NCAA Division II so far this season.
Lee travels to Birmingham, Alabama, this Thursday and Friday, February 19-20, for the GSC Indoor Championship. The two-day event is set to be contested at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
