CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Lee University men's tennis team opened its regular season with a 6-1 win over Gulf South Conference (GSC) foe Delta State University. The Flames improved to 1-0 (1-0 GSC), while the Statesmen dropped to 4-2 (0-1 GSC).

The No.21-ranked doubles team of Quinn Groenendijk and Jip Langerhuizen were leading Marti Cerda Castillo and Valentino Millimaci 4-3 when the doubles competition was determined.

Krohn, ranked No. 14 nationally, defeated Ojeda 6-1, 6-3 to run Lee's lead to 2-0. Langerhuizen won both of his sets against Greco by 6-2 margins. Groenendijk outlasted Alzate 7-6 in their opening set and clinched the team win with a 6-1 margin in the second set.

Coach Patric Hynes' thoughts:
"Delta are a much improved team with guys who fight hard. It's a good start for us. There's no such thing as an easy GSC contest."
