CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The 16
th-ranked Lee University men's tennis team shut out Christian Brothers University 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center. The Flames improved their record to 2-0 with both being GSC contests.
Francisco Guimarães and Rytis Razminas opened doubles play with a 6-1 defeat of Ernesto Pico and Miguel Perez Habib at the third position. Filipe Krohn and Stefan Mos were 6-1 winners against Benjamin Hanriot and Alexandre Randoux at No. 1 doubles to secure the doubles point. The No. 21-ranked team of Jip Langerhuizen and Quinn Groenendijk beat Justin Martin and Tristian Kelly 6-2 to sweep the doubles action.
Krohn, ranked No. 14, beat Ycaza 6-3 and 6-0 to push Lee's lead to 2-0. Langerhuizen dropped just four points to Hanriot to win at No. 2 singles. Mos defeated Kelly 6-0, 6-3 to clinch the team win.
Guimarães beat Alexandre Randoux 6-3 and 6-3 to win his No. 4 singles match. Razminas beat Pico with matching 6-1 set scores. Roberto Leal completed the shutout with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Habib at No. 6 singles.
The Flames return to action Sunday afternoon at Middle Georgia State University. The non-conference matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Devos Tennis Center.
